A feeling of regret fills my heart.
It has caused a stirring in my troubled soul.
If it was possible to be transported back in time
to my beginning,
I would change the course of my life.
If it were somehow possible.
They say that hell is a place.
I think that hell is a troubled state of mind!
If I may quote Oscar Wilde for a moment:
“Man knows not to what red hell his sightless
soul may stray.”
In that sense let this heavy heart be freed from
its bondage.
I envy the little birds.
They can fly high above the cares of life;
and soar the heavens so free.

A Courageous Journey

There dwells within the soul of man
a dark and lonely place.
A place we store away our deepest fears.
This is our secret abode.
A place no one dare look upon.
The night brings forth our dreams of fright.
It’s here hidden away from all to see.
A place we keep our private tears.
The venture into this place is a brave journey indeed.
It requires courage that no one can imagine.
We need to confront our demons; to find peace.
This is a time for healing.

Playing Sam the piano player will be Dann.
Rick says to woman: “Of all the gin mills
in the world you had to walk into mine!”
Rick: “Here’s looking at you kid.”
“You and I don’t amount to a hill of beans
in this crazy world.”
We will always have Paris you and I Kid!”

Out In Our Neck Of The Woods

There exists a void within my soul
What manner of trickery could this be?
As to cause such a feeling of emptiness
such as this, as though my soul has
taken leave and is in flight.
What sort of sorrow can this be?
To create such a condition?
I am alive, but I feel as though some strange
Spell has over taken me in a mysterious way.
Much like walking on the air.
Perhaps it’s some sort of madness?
I know it is merely temporary.

The Savage Storm

The storm began as a mere eddy at first
than turned into a whirlpool born in the
depth of an unforgiving sea:
This disturbance suddenly grew into a
Dangerous hurricane
It roared across the ocean with great power.
The storm was on a collision course with Florida.
After slamming into Florida the storm followed a wide swath,
the east coast, leaving destruction in its wake.
The hurricane caused flooding in a great
numbers of rivers, which was now a disastrous Nor’easter
heading for New England.
The towns and cities around
Boston was under water due to
the overflow of the rivers.
Thousands of people were evacuated
from their homes by boats and helicopter.
The loss of life was numbered in the hundreds.
Most of the people were moved to
higher ground and safety.
This is the tragic force of nature.

Master Of Our Fate

Deep within our being
There is an unconscious flash of emotion.
Emotions which rise to the surface suddenly
as does a storm at sea.
Manifesting itself with such fluidity and swiftness
Liken to a tidal wave swept ashore
Can such strong feelings be capable of control?
Perhaps these emotions are met with limited success.
I wonder can such a person come out of this type of
anger unscathed?
Or for the most part still feel enslaved.
Does this mean that total control over such emotions
are inconceivable?
Can we truly be “captains of our souls?”
Or is this just a well sounding metaphor?

The Human Condition

The absolute resilience of the human spirit has always
astonished me greatly.
As the human spirit is truly free:
This immortal entity knows no boundaries
Nor has it any limitations.
For it is eternal.
As the human condition is only temporary.
There exists a much greater condition:
the spiritual one.
We face anew in this knowledge
And have a renewed strength
This should internalize a greater hope.
I for one champion the power of the human
condition to bounce back.
I know that a much higher power exists.

The Empty Nest

Go forth into the world, oh my children
and when you do — go with your wits about you.
Also take your God giving smarts with you as well.
Do not fall for some fast talking Charlatan. Like
a Svengali who will promise you the moon with a fence
around it. Because it’s all smoke and mirrors.
So I say my children be diligent in whom you place your trust
For you are as unprepared as sheep among wolves.
So heed my words for they are words of wisdom.
This is my legacy to you my children.

A Golfer’s Dream (Dedicated To Rich)

The golfer started to play the course, the lush green fairway
lay stretched out in the distance as far as the eye could see.
It seemed to be beckoning the golfer to answer it’s
challenging plea, with its little flag waving in the springs
morning breeze,
urging the golfer to play on.
His drives were swift and strong, executed with ease.
The golf ball sped loftily in its rapid flight, high
above the trees.
The golfer’s drives landed on every green with perfection.
All were less than half a foot from the hole.
When seeing this the golfer replied
“Well, bless my soul.”

Just Beyond My Reach

It seems as though
there has always been something
just beyond my reach.
Some kind of a wall exists.
A wall I can not breach.
To this day I have no idea what this
mysterious thing is that eludes my grasp.
What ever this elusive thing may be
it has certainly involved me in a seemingly
impossible task.
I have the oddest feeling as though
something has been taken from me.
My soul needs it back.
Only then will I feel complete.
I shall continue to pursue this thing,
for I will never claim defeat.
